CHARLESTOWN REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAM

Charlestown Netball Association has a long and proud Representative Program history. Over the years we have had many teams compete in NNSW competitions such as Regional League, Junior State Titles (previously State Age Championships) and Senior State Titles (previously State Championships).

We aim to

  1. Support and nurture Charlestown Netball Association representative players within a positive and rewarding environment, allowing them to play their best and to represent Charlestown Netball Association with pride, enthusiasm, and integrity.
  2. Provide a professional and organised framework of management and support for both representative players and representative personnel.
  3. Encourage and support the continued development of skills and experience of Charlestown representative coaches, umpires, and managers.
  4. Support our representative teams to perform at their best when competing at Junior State Titles (JST), Senior State Titles (SST), and other representative competitions.
  5. Nurture confidence, integrity, pride, resilience and passion in our players, coaches and managers, to allow them to excel and flourish both on and off the court.

We are running 4 training sessions for our younger players who are keen to see what representative training is like. This is a great opportunity for players who are thinking of trialling for the Charlestown 11s Development Squad in 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • What's the difference between the rep squad and the rep team?
    • The rep squad usually has 18 to 22 players. The squad is selected in the "off season" to provide connection to the rep program, with a strong focus on training and skills development.
    • The rep team is usually selected to have 9 to 11 players with the intention that these players will go through to State Titles. Often the rep team players have participated in our squads, but not always.
  • When are selections happening for the representative teams?
    • Selections for the 2027 Representative Teams will be scheduled for early February 2027. Dates and times will be confirmed closer to the end of 2026.
  • Do I have to be selected into the squad to be considered for selection into the rep team later?
    • No, selections into the representative team is open to all.
    • We acknowledge that players (and their families) often need a break after a hectic winter season. They may already have existing commitments during summer, they may wish to try something different for a couple of months, and other life events might take priority in the leadup to Christmas. So Charlestown Netball Association does not make it mandatory to be in the squad ahead of team selections. However, the squads are a good opportunity for keen players to keep a bit of netball fitness, meet the coach and manager, and find out what rep is like and how it works.
    • Note - other associations may have a different approach to squads and teams.
